40 Days of Faith and Hope in Action is an opportunity to participate in a spiritual practice of prayer, fasting and charity.
The 40 Days Edition One devotional will prioritize daily prayer and reflection on Scriptures will focus on God’s heart for the poor, oppressed, and marginalized people.
The 40 Days Edition Two devotional is A Christ-Centred, Spirit-Empowered, Mission-Focused Devotional Journey that will seek a renewed a focus for living dynamic Christ-centred lives, experiencing the fullness of the Holy Spirit, and being motivated to risk it all to be on mission.
The 40 Days Edition Three devotional is A Devotional Prayer Journey into the Presence, Power, and Purposes of God that not only inspires and moves us into prayer but it is also an invitation into deeper intimacy with Jesus that unleashes the power and authority of the Holy Spirit within us.
We encourage all who participate to intentionally commit to prayerfully listen to God’s Word and invite the Holy Spirit to guide you as you examine your daily decisions in light of Christ and his purposes.
We also invite you to fast or give up something either for the entire period, or for various times throughout. It doesn’t have to be food-related; it could be a favorite pastime, a luxury item, etc. We pray that God will draw us into a deeper commitment to living his mission as we unclutter our lives and fill them with his purpose. Going without, while counter-cultural, creates space to increase our desire for God, deepens our appreciation for what we have and increases our response to the needs of people.
Important to this experience will also be a choice to do charitable acts. This could be a daily, weekly, or one-time action. Isaiah 58 exhorts those that were exercising a time of fasting and prayer that an equally important part of self-denial is a call to sacrificial service. Doing for people fulfills God’s mission for the whole of creation to experience his wholeness.
Following each devotional and reflection, there is an opportunity to interact with others on this journey by leaving a comment about your experience. We invite you to visit this website daily to interact with the resources, ideas and blog articles.
